The Story Behind We’re Not Stumped | Finding Strength Through Adversity
Born without a right hand, Mike Bolland understands firsthand what it means to navigate adversity, adapt, and keep moving forward.
That lived experience became the foundation for We’re Not Stumped — a podcast and storytelling platform sharing authentic conversations from amputees, adaptive athletes, caregivers, medical professionals, survivors, advocates, and everyday people overcoming life’s toughest moments.
What started as a podcast has grown into a community focused on resilience, representation, humor, and the belief that challenges do not define who you are.

What Is We’re Not Stumped?
We’re Not Stumped is more than an podcast.
It’s a storytelling platform centered around resilience, recovery, adaptive living, humor, and overcoming adversity.
Hosted by Mike Bolland, the show features conversations with amputees, adaptive athletes, prosthetists, caregivers, entrepreneurs, entertainers, veterans, medical professionals, and people whose lives changed in an instant — but who refused to let those moments define them.
The mission is simple:
Help people feel less alone while sharing stories that inspire hope, perspective, and possibility.

Meet Mike Bolland
Mike Bolland was born without a right hand, but from an early age learned that limitations are often shaped more by mindset than circumstance.
Over the years, Mike has worn many hats — child actor in “The Trial of Billy Jack” podcast host, speaker, comedian, advocate, nonprofit leader, volunteer, and even professional bowler.
He made history as the first amputee to compete on the PBA Tour and has spent decades using humor, storytelling, and lived experience to encourage others facing adversity.
Mike is also deeply involved in the disability and limb loss community through organizations like Ability360 and Arizona Disabled Sports, where he continues to support adaptive athletes and individuals rebuilding confidence after life-changing challenges.
In addition to hosting We’re Not Stumped, Mike is the founder of One Hand Man Productions and serves on the board of directors for Ability360 and Arizona Disabled Sports.

Why This Matters
After years of conversations with amputees, survivors, caregivers, and people navigating unexpected challenges, one thing became clear:
Too many people feel alone during the hardest moments of their lives.
We’re Not Stumped exists to change that.
Whether someone is adjusting to limb loss, recovering from trauma, supporting a loved one, or simply trying to rediscover hope after a setback, these stories remind people that resilience is possible — even when life looks completely different than expected.
The goal has never been perfection.
The goal is connection, honesty, encouragement, and helping people realize they are capable of more than they think.

More Than a Podcast
Life can change in an instant.
But losing a limb, having a child with limb difference, or navigating unexpected challenges does not mean losing purpose, identity, or hope.
That belief is at the heart of We’re Not Stumped.
Through honest conversations, humor, advocacy, and storytelling, Mike Bolland continues building a platform that reminds people they are stronger than they realize — and that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.
Because resilience is not about pretending life is easy.
It’s about refusing to let adversity have the final word.
